Proven Catering Tips and Tricks... Look Inside!
Proven Catering Tips - Are you thinking
about hiring a caterer? Good idea! Why be tied to your kitchen when
everyone else is having fun? A good caterer can make you look like a
star but your star will quickly fade if your caterer turns out to be a
dud. Here's some tips and tricks to help you make the right decision.
1. Choose your cuisine before
choosing a caterer.
Don't let a particular caterer's menu narrow your choice down to just
what they offer. Decide what you want your guests to eat first and then
find someone to prepare and serve it.
2. Conduct an interview.
Do the initial interview over the telephone while you're building your
short list, then do the final interviews in person and preferably at
the caterer's business location so you can have a look around. Here's
some things that you should talk about:
Your budget.
Food quality (fresh or frozen).
How heated foods will be kept hot and cold foods will be kept cold.
Can you taste before you buy?
Who gets the leftovers?
How much deposit is required?
When is the final payment due?
Is cash, check, money order or credit cards accepted?
What are the cancellation requirements and fees?
Are there any "extra" fees for setup or tear down?
Are they able to handle any special religious or medical dietary needs
of your guests?
Does their definition of vegetarian or vegan match yours?
Catering tips - Of course, you also want to make sure that the caterer
is licensed both by whatever jurisdiction licenses businesses entities
in general as well as by whatever public health agency licenses
caterers specifically. Also ask to see proof of business liability and
workman's compensation insurance in case any of the caterers get
injured on your site or any of your guests get sick from the food.
3. Get references, get references,
get references.
Did I mention that you should get references? If not, I will now. Get
references. If your caterer can't provide you with a recent customer
list, run away! Sure, every caterer has to be new sometime or other,
but let them practice on someone else's party. Your guests deserve the
best and nothing less will do.
While you are checking for references ask you caterer if they have an
"event photography album". Many caterers will photograph the food line
and decorations from some of their events to show you how neat and
pretty they can be.
Of course, if you're looking for a
no-hassle caterer that will give more catering tips, and you don't have time to do an
exhaustive search, just decide on an Italian cuisine and then call.
They'll provide a sumptuous Italian feast from their world-class
authentic Italian menu which can include all of the traditional Italian
meat, fish and pasta meals as well as appetizers, pizza and calzones.
Catering tips - And you want to talk about fresh? Their
Italian-kitchen-on-wheels speciality trucks enable them to prepare your
feast fresh right from inside their mobile kitchens. To get Italian
food catering any fresher than that, you'd have to live in the Vatican!
